Blog work

By

Sorry for repeating posts but I’m trying to organise my blog somehow and have been fiddling with pages and categories to find out how this would work best.

Conclusion was I should continue to add all new info as blog posts and if I write something really useful and focused then I can link it to the How to section.  I tried to add articles there as pages but couldn’t have them display comments or be categorised so it was not a good idea. I’m not too skilled with wordpress 🙂

Hi, love your site, mainly because I’m a “Blendermama” too. I’m trying to learn Blender in the stolen hours while the little ones are at school and after they go to sleep at night, and I’m hoping to use it for scientific videos. It’s nice to see someone else using Blender who isn’t a 20-something male looking to make monsters for video games. Good luck and keep up the wonderful work.

Hi Kimberly, thanks for your comment! Reading it really made my day 🙂 Blender is such a great opportunity for a working mum, I am happy to know I am not the only one. Hope you get great results in your field of work and please drop in anytime for a blender or kids related chat 🙂

Hi Oana, glad I could make your day! I was wondering if you have taken any Blender courses or gone to the Blender conference in Amsterdam? Right now I’m working from books and online tutorials, and I’m wondering whether it’s worthwhile to try to get out of the house and learn from an actual human. I’m living in Germany, by the way, so it would be possible for me to go to Leipzig or Berlin, but only for a couple of days probably because of kid responsibilities. I have the feeling that the Amsterdam conference is less for Blender users and more for Blender developers (after watching a couple of videos from it online).

I didn’t take any courses except the online nature one from Andrew Price which is usefull but not exactly a course, more like an advanced tutorials session with community support. I bought three books, the best was Foundation Blender Compositing from the Blender e-store, and for the rest I keep browsing for tutorials and forums for specific problems I encounter. Unfortunately I barely manage to get out of the house alone to get a haircut these days, but I would love to go to Amsterdam just for the sake of it 🙂 As you say, the conference seems to be mostly for the developers but maybe it’s a good opportunity to meet people and find out about classes. I like to learn by myself but I’m sure learning from someone in a class is a more effective way to do it, especially at the start.
