Currently blending…(wood textures)

By

I spent a lot of time between Gimp and Cgtextures today trying to find/edit a good match for the wood textures in my interior reference (floor and back wall). I started out with the idea of recreating that scene as closely as I can but I don’t want necessarily to get it “exactly so” and then have people guess which is the photo and which is the my render.  However I spent the morning trapped with trying to get those wooden textures exactly. After several attempts I managed this:

The most noticeable “CG” thing – too clean! especially compared to the photo. So I took a plunge in the grunge and rust directories of cgtextures to find some wear and scratches for that wood. I might have overdid it a bit but it’s amazing what “grunge” can do to the realism of an image:

Actually I remade the wall material from scratch for the second image. I think I have do darken it a bit more.

I also went to too much trouble for the lamp shapes because on the remodelista page there were links to the Tom Dixon lamps, with section and size…

One note: the noise on the right wall is due to low samples in area lights, if increased result is ok.

Blending time over!
